🌍 The International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) and Accountancy Europe reaffirm their commitment to high-quality and consistent sustainability assurance. Achieving this requires a collective effort by all stakeholders, robust professional standards, and regulatory consistency. “It is absolutely critical for investor and consumer protection that practitioners outside of the audit profession are held by jurisdictional regulators to the same regulatory oversight, disciplinary responsibility and requirements that apply to professional accountants”, said Lee White, IFAC CEO. “When sustainability and financial data align, companies present a clearer, more consistent narrative to the market, enabling stakeholders to make effective and sustainable decisions. Statutory auditors are also well placed to provide assurance on sustainability reporting to support information’s connectivity”, said Eelco van der Enden, Accountancy Europe CEO. 📰 👉 Read the press release here: https://bit.ly/4iWmwWW

🌍 Yesterday, IFAC CEO Lee White had the honor of joining Business at OECD (BIAC)’s Knowledge Partner event at the OECD - OCDE’s Global Anti-Corruption and Integrity Forum on "New Ways to Combat Corruption". He participated in a panel discussion focused on making integrity a core tenet of corporate culture in the fight against corruption. A strong accountancy profession is essential to combating corruption. That’s why IFAC’s Action Plan for Fighting Corruption and Economic Crime focuses on: 1️⃣ Harnessing the full potential of education & professional development with our members 2️⃣ Strengthening policy & stakeholder engagement to promote strong anti-corruption policies with global policymakers, regulators, and enforcement agencies such as OECD, Financial Action Task Force (FATF), International Bar Association, and B20 South Africa 3️⃣ Empowering individual accountants to be champions of integrity with resources, toolkits, and initiatives 🗨️ Lee White said, “Trust is particularly important to the accountancy profession. It is both what we do—we create trust in financial and sustainability information—and it is the basis of our work—we need to be trusted to fulfill our role. This trust places an enormous responsibility on our profession to act with integrity, bridge the gap between governments and society, and uphold the highest standards of ethics.” 🤝 Thank you, Business at OECD (BIAC), for the opportunity to collaborate again!
